yellow tang in a 50gal

i was thinking about putting a yellow tang in my 50gal am i over my head? if i did get him how long until he will out grow my tank?:help:

Tangs love to swim, and you really can't provide them with that kind of a environment in a 55, you might be able to keep the fish . . . but he wont be happy.

What are the dimentions of your tank?
Your odds of success are decent with a 4' tank but increase dramatically with 6' or 8' of swimming space.

You could keep him for a few years (if he's small), but then you'll have to upgrade. 2 years I'll venture to guess. Tangs love their swimming room.

Yes, what are the dimensions? A small yellow tang should do fine for awhile as long as it is the only tang.
