Yellow Tang looking Emaciated

Would a high concentration of string algae-on the rocks, LS, and the glass- cause stress to a yellow tang? And would this in turn make him look thin and wasting away?

Well, I give him green colored marine algae as per my lfs's recommendation. When he went through a cycle of Ich, I dipped the algae in Zoe and minced garlic. He ate it right up. When I go to feed my eel, either scallops, or squid, he snatches some of that as it falls off of the tongs. I was shocked when I saw him eating that, because I thought he was a vegan, but hey, if he wants to eat meat, I cant stop him.
Because of all of the algae, I couldnt see if he ate his regular diet of algae the other day. I did a disease check on another website, and it mentioned a possible parasite, called something like Chilodonella, which may cause flat spots to appear on the sides of the fish. They recommend freshwater dip, and then a copper treatment. I know all about what copper can do to an aquarium.

Buy some frozen Mysis Shrimp. PE is one of the best. Tanks are not herbivores not matter how much people want them to be. They are Omnivores that require a diet rich in algae.
