If this tank was not just set up then there should be plenty of bacteria in the tank without the rock. Having live rock in hyposaline conditions will cause ammonia spikes.
What is done, is done. I will just keep my water changes until levels calm down again. There is no point in taking out LR anymore since whatever can die, has already been dead.
About the redness, does it look bad to you? It appears like its a natural color to me, but yellow tangs are supposed to be yellow
Dear hobbyist, my yellow tang had the same problem. This is a bacterial infection, which can be cured with the use of Melafix . Place your yellow tang in a quarantine tank and add Melafix . Follow the directions and your tang should be fine within 1 to 2 weeks.
