Yellow tang won't eat

This tank is going to cycle. What are you using for biological filtration? Add sand and some small rubbel rock if you can. I would hate to see this fish suffer more from a cycling QT.

I have bad news. She didn't make the move. :( I caught her pretty quick using the netting stuffed into the caves and cracks. Used 2 bags to corner her. But, just doing that she was breathing pretty heavy. When she was in the bag she started to go on her side. When I moved her to the 20, she just laid on the bottom. She was acclimated to that tank but while I was doing it, she was always on her side. I guess 3 weeks without eating just got her so weak. She even had clear spots in her fins.
I did have a external filter for the 10 gallon and just kept the same filter and moved it to the 20. I was going to change it before I put the Maracyn in to get the carbon out.
Plus, I did put in a bunch of rubble from my tank in there.
So sad...

Sorry to hear, but expected. This fish was in pretty bad condition. For treatment of bacterial infections, you pretty much need to start the treatment at first signs. I highly recommend that hobbyists give their fish, and tanks the once over everyday with a magnifying glass.
You did your best.

Well, when she got that red in her mouth and stopped eating the large flakes but went after the smaller ones I didn't want to get too worried about it. Just thought as long as she is eating and acting normal-don't get worried. The red went away and she started chewing the big ones again and I thought, "Cool, I have a healthy tank and she was able to clear herself up". (Always a blessing) But, it was when she didn't eat for a couple of days. I guess I should have posted the do fish get lonely thread on this board. But, I didn't think she was sick. Wonder if I would have started the Maracyn on 10/31 if she would be ok now.
The tank looks so bare without her swimming all around. She used to always try and get in my camera shots.

Don't beat yourself up, in this situation it is a good guess about what exactly is wrong with a fish. Even if you treated early, there is no guarantee that she would have recovered. The fact that you have had this fish for so long, kept it in a good environment, and it got an infection tells me that it was pretty serious, and likely hard to treat at the very best. It could have actually been something internal that no one could do anything about.
Prepare your QT well, and get another YT.

This has been a bad fish year for me. First, I lost my Yellow Clown Goby after 21 years which was suddenly and unexplainable and never could find him. Then, I wanted to get my firefish out more which I had for 7 years and read on here that people got more of them to get them to school. Bought 2 more and was great then they all started to fight and all 3 died. Then, my LMB decided to jump out this crack I had in the glass tops. Had him for 3 years. (Since, covered all spaces with wedding veil and just have to move the glass tops every night to feed is all.) Then the Tang just went.
The tank must be fine in fact my anemone just split a couple of weeks ago and the clownfish are always laying eggs. So I am just having a really bad fish year. Maybe it is finally catching up with me having good fish years for so long. But, I really don't like to get the same fish again. Esp. since they all look alike. Maybe a Purple Tang and a Powder Blue Tang so they can be friends. Since I don't want to just get one Tang again and he take over all the hiding spots. Looking to get those Purple Firefish and then maybe some Anthias. Just need to get the QT going for awhile and need to get a filter for a 20 gallon tank.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had a bad run. I'm sure the next fish you get will be great. Best of luck to you

I sure hope so! I just love my tank! It will be nice if I could get a school of fish in there.
