Yellow Tang

Help my yellow tang is sick it has a cloudy eye and around it's gills and eyes it's color is kinda brown what could this be?? I am using melafix to treat the cloudy eye I can't figure out what I should do now with the brown around his gills and eyes please help me..

Is it brown or red? Is there a line across his body as well? How is he eating? Is he getting TONS of good green algae or nori?
IMHO yellow tangs are not an easy fish to keep.

it's brown..What type of line u talkin bout he's got his lateral line that u can see..I don't think he is i'll go out and get some seaweed selects..

first off i would recommend that you stop using melafix. i tried it too because it was cheap, but what good is something that is cheap but doesnt work. you will also find many other negative posts about melafix. i would also recommend that you put the tang in a hospital tank if you havent done so. another suggestion is to move this post to the disease forum where you will more likely get a person who knows about this to respond. i dont really know what is wrong with your fish but i know i wouldnt use melafix. sorry i couldnt help more.

Yes, I was thinking lateral line erosion. How's his color? Is he a vibrant yellow or is he looking sort of pale and washed out?

This happened to my yellow tang about 2 weeks after I got him. I think he was stressed because within a week his eye cleared up and he is fine. All the while his eye was cloudy he was still eating but was acting pretty skitish. Hope this is all that was wrong with yours. Make sure you test your water.

that's the way mine is toddius..He's eatin and all but he's actin lazy or skittish..Sometimes he's a lil pale but all the other time he's bright yellow..I have tried postin this on the disease board no luck..yet
