Yellow Tang

My tang looks just like that last pic you posted w/ the bacterial infection. Mine is not that bad yet but that's what his symptoms are. What would cause him to just get sick like that after all this time and what should i do for him?? Can't stand to watch him suffering much more and he's my fav...:( Found him floundering yesterday at noon CST and he's no better but about the same today.
Tank set up since 04/01/2004
Water PH 8.2
Temp 82
SG 30
0 Nitrate/nitrite
0 ammonia
RO Water/oceanic salt (not a recent change)
( I don't feed all this at once, on a rotation per my fish guy so everyone in the tank is happy and all have been eating just fine)
Feed flake, algae clips, pellets, frozen shrimp, selcon 1 x per week, zooplex and phytoplankton 2xs per week and garlic yesterday and today for "miltTang",;
essential elements added 1 per week, calcium as needed ( my fish store tells me when and how much to add) idodide same here.
Tenants of tank with MilTang;
1 maroon/gold clown
1 bubble anemone
1 blue chromis
1 sally crab
1 engineer goby
1 green brittle star
1 sand star
1 blood shrimp (& he is cleaning everybody if they want to)
1 pixie hawk
4 red mushrooms
live rock and sand base
Nothing added since we got MilTang in October 2004 no changes in chemistry, nothing different.
Thanks,
Jana

Well, sorry to say that a 55 gal tank is too small for a tang. How long have you had this fish?
Try doing a water change, and feed him food soaked in freshly minced garlic. You may want to consider processing fresh foods. See the example receipe in the FAQ Thread. Of course, with a tang, you will need to add some greens as well.

It's a 3" tang and we've had him 6 months and he eats his greens. Did the garlic food so guess was doing all I could do anyway. I am waiting to see what today brings for him.... I just could not find a cause for his deterioration so quickly. We are stabilizing a new 120 gal tank that was to be his new home if he makes it, but thanks again for letting people know that Tangs should be kept in larger tanks!
Thanks for reply,
Jana
