I would say for the most part...except other fish of it's genus...like hte purple tang. Or maybe other fish yellow. I have a yellow and he's gets a long with everyone...2 different tangs, hawkfish, 2 clowns, & a midas. I see yellows in community tanks as well as aggresive tanks.

My book says that yellow tangs become bullies when they are mature. They claim about 6 feet of reef as their territory in the wild. The pretty much means they want the whole tank and are willing to fight for it..

yellow tangs r very territorial. any other tangs or fish that r shaped similar would be at risk if added after the yellow tang.

In smaller tanks they can be quite territorial and not the best tank mates at times. In larger tanks they are mostly ok (say 150+) except with similar species of tangs...though each case is different.
