Yet again another refuge question

I'm making a refugium. I made the 3 compartments and plan on using miricle mud with about 1 inch of live sand on top of the mud. I plan on getting the plants from ----. My questions are:
Do I need to have the live sand? Do I have to let this cycle a bit on its own if I'm using my tank water to set it up or just fill it and go?

don't say that! it's VITALLY important!!! As you can see by the two of us being so damn interested!
But seriously, though - can anyone else shed some light on this for us?

If your main tank is already cycled i wouldn't think you would need to cycle the fuge. you could put some of the sand form your main tank in there to start the process. If you have not set up your main tank, do it all a once.

I heard its not really that good to get these pakages.Because your introducing to much at one time. It will affect your bioload. I not to sure on this but I heard it is better to add one at a time.

I used live sand and bio-sediment for my 20g fuge, and the live sand caused a cycle. It cycled for 2 weeks, and then I started the circulation through my DT, and that pretty much took care of the rest of the cycle. I also got the same package off of ---- and was pleased with it, although some of the different types of macro didn't last long. Hth......:happyfish
