Ok guys, someone have any other suggestions… I am getting extremely frustrated… I have poured over every single hair algae post several times, and tried most of all the suggestions, and yes, it has gotten a little better, but no where close to being gone… I've been battling this Hair for several months now...
Here’s my info…
EQUIPMENT
- 20G/H setup since January
- Biowheel 125 Filtration
- 125gph powerhead ( located at top)
- CSL Moonlight Fixture (65W 10K Daylight & 65W
Ultra Actinic) primarily run the Actinics only, don’t use the
daylight or moonlights since the outbreak of hair…
CRITTERS
- 2 Percula Clowns
- 1 Lawnmower Blenny
- 1 Emerald Crab
- 2 Red Legged Hermits
- Handful of Blue Legs
- Handful of Snails
- A few zoo colonys
- 2 mushrooms
READINGS
Amm 0
Nitrate 0
Ph 8.2
Nitrite 0
STEPS TAKEN TO GET RID OF ALGAE
- Stopped using Tap water and switched to RO for Top offs and
use “Real Ocean” Catalina water for water changes once a
month @ 20%
- Ran Kent Phosphate Sponge several times
- Reduced Light amount and time on
- Limited feeding to once or twice a week
- Removed rock and scrubbed several times
- Use a turkey baster to remove hair algae on weekly basis
- Started using the Sea-Lab No. 28 nugget (per direction of the
LFS) about a month ago
- Put up a barrier to keep real sunlight out of the tank
- Bought a Lawnmower Blennie and borrowed an Emerald
Crab a month ago.
- Reduced Temp from 79/80 to about 75/76
Any one else have any other comments, suggestions, inspiration…..
