You aren't good enough to read the bills congress votes on.

I cant give a reason why, I agree with you , we should. ALot of self governed groups, hoa's even ANSI standards are open for public view and comment. Why not bill in congress....Well lets see these are the guys who can vote for thier own pay increases, choose our SS sytem, and soon to be helthcare yet do not use any public helth or SS benifits, they have thier own system in place, even after leaving office....... AHHHH POLITICS

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"A government for the people, by the people." Bullsh!t.
The moment that congress found out that they can vote money out of the treasury- it was all over with. We're fk'd.
I hate to say it, but I am not a very proud American citizen at the moment. 1. Our military is way too strong, we feel like we can take over any country we want. 2. Our educational system sucks - and no one is willing to change it. 3. Our healthcare system is fixing to be government ran, even letting illegals have medical coverage. 4. We are leading more into Socialism, but only 60% of working Americans pay taxes - so therefore the burden is only on 60% of America... 5. We have lost our way from what our founding fathers had visioned it would be. 6. We can't even get a 700 mile fence built on the Mexican border in 9 years, though we built an interstate highway system in only 10. 7. We let big business run our lives and tell us what we want and need to buy and when they do poorly they get government backed grants and bailouts.
BLAH BLAH BLAH. There's no where else to move to in the world either - because everywhere you go, it sucks there too...

Someone give me one good reason why we shouldn't see the bills 72 hours before our congressmen vote on them?
here's one: It is not in the best interest of the people to know what's being legislated on. If we did, we may start a Tea Party or something ridiculous like that...
We have achieved Capitalism's logical end: Gov't for, by and of the Corporations.

This is the only part I disagree with you on.
A short while ago, a talk show radio host here in Atlanta touched on this point. He talked about the sentiment just exactly as you put it forth.
His response to this makes so much sense... even if I did want to argue with it, I couldn't.
There is always going to be one dominant nation. No matter what you do, somewhere, somehow, one country is going to have a more powerful military than the others.
If not us, who do you prefer?

+1 And we are not imperialistic as the left loves to say. We took Cuba, Puerto Rico, The Phillipines and several other possessions from Spain and we gave them their independence. We conquered Germany and Japan and gave them their independence. We have mandated free and democratic governments be installed, but we have always took care of our interests and given the country back to their people. The only super-power in the history to do so. We need to be the strongest and meanest country for the sake of the oppressed around the world. We aren't perfect, but as perfect as any super power can be.

BTW, Puerto Rico has had 8 votes on independence and have chosen to remain with us. And before you bring up Bautista, what is there now is better?

Actually, the Government is trying to control all the corporations. Instead of letting some vital ones fail, they are taking control of the corporations to help control the masses. Instead of saying NO to the corporation, you are now bludgeoned into saying yes....
I seem to recall how folks said the Repubs were all about big business....now the Libs are running them. Hmmmm.

I would'nt sat that the goverment is trying to control the big corps. I think they are just trying to make it look like that so they can trick people into believing the goverment is really the one in control.
Most of these huge corps are multinational they have their slimy tentacles everywhere and all over the globe. To say that our govt can control these corps is kind of silly really. They are more powerful than our govt and they have more money or assets if you will.
What I think is that the govt is starting to realise that more and more people are starting to wake up and notice where things are going and they are a little nervous. So they come up with a plan to appease the people by convicing them that they are taking control of these huge powerful corps.
Take the swine flu vaccine for example. Who is that helping? Where is all that money going? To me it looks like lots and lots of people being scared by the govt into taking a vaccine for what amounts to a very mild flu virus so the poor pharmacutical companies can make millions and millions of dollars from a vaccine that was rushed out the door before it was tested as well as it should have been!
Next it will be govt run healtcare. Only it wont be govt run. It will be the same crappy overpriced healtcare most people have now only the govt will try to tell you they control it and that it is mandatory of you will have to pay a fine.
Believe me whatever bills they are passing in congress arent going to help regular people much if at all thats why they dont let the people see them!
I think this country is now the most corrupt country on the planet and the sad part is nobody wants to admit it. We all want to continue thinking this is the great old USA of our childhood. We need to wake up before its too late.....Mabey it is already too late who knows?

Our military consists of less than 2% of the entire population. This is on par with Russia, England and most of the major countries in the world.
China has over 7 million troops. which is also at the less than 2% mark for their population......
Iraq was at almost 4% before we went in.
When you say strong....please elaborate on that.

Very true. This is where the line between Socialism and Fascism blurs for me.
What is it that the Government is trying to achieve?
