I have been having issues of getting my water to look clear (I wanted really clear). So I thought that I would try some Nassarius snails from 3Bay to see if it would help (didnt think it would). Well I got 50 for $15 shipped and I just put them all (there was actually 60) in my 20g (I figured that I could pull some of them out in the future) I am not lying....within 24hours my tank is crystal clear. The water. The water got cleaner. I didnt expect that. I had no idea that they would make the water cleaner. I just thought they would clean the glass and rocks and stuff. I would give them a try if I were you. Really.

Snails can effectively help clean-up algae related issues and can scavenge assorted excessive foods...but I've never heard much about them clearing up water....most times a good quality carbon can clear up water clarity issues real quick. Curious about how & why you believe your snail additions cleared up your water?

Ya I have never heard of that eihter. I'm wondering if you were looking at your glass with algea on it. So you would have trouble seeing the water. Now that the glass is clear it seems that the water may be clearer.

Nassarius snails mainly stay buried in the sand... they rarely go on the glass. Are you sure they're nassarius snails? :D
Glad the water cleared up anyway! :happyfish

maybe your glass was just THAT jacked up... and now it's clear, making the tank WATER appear clearer (or "more clear" for those that care)

about half are on the glass and half are in the sand. The water has definitely got clearer. I did have some algae but I cleaned the tiny bit of it off. You could see that my water was the issue. I have not added a new carbon filter (same one for almost a month). I will have to take a picture of the clarity so you can see it. My neighbor came over and he could not believe it either. He has a 125g and his water is ok but he would like to see it a little clearer. I know this sounds like a farse (so dont bash me) but I guess its because of the high number of snails that I put in. I will have to give you before and after shots.

Not doubting that your water cleared up...and we certainly don't allow flames and/or bashing of members...but I don't see how the addition of snails will dramatically and quickly clear up dingy water. They may very well help control pest algaes and reduce the accumulation of excess nutrients...and in turn those benefits may help with water clarity...but that wouldn't be a quick process.

Yeah, I don't really understand how they would affect actual water carity either....they are not filter feeders after all. And I would be wary, for sure, whether they were true nassarius or not.

Glad you got your snails. I ordered 100 of them off ---- early November and have still not recieved them. I was robbed (along with many others from this person from New Bern, North Carolina). I have called them and have even reported her to the FBI for investigation (it really ticks me off to be robbed then ignored).

Not sure if we ordered from the same person or not. There are a couple different people that are selling those same snails.

Admin has requested that mention of ---- be prohibited...the same snails are available here at a fair price with free shipping as long as a minimum order is made. Its good that you can locate other sources but discussion of those sources here is a violation of established policy.:nope:
