the bathroom thing:

Why would they? I highly doubt anyone would seriously think this person is trying to get a peek. As mentioned, it is individual stalls. We don't all go in there and look at each other using the bathroom.
I think this person is very brave and is being considerate of the people around her, just in case they may feel uncomfortable.

Just out of curiosity, what if he thinks that this is the answer to all of his emotional turmoil/stress... yet (like many others), does not find what he/she is looking for after going through this procedure for years? And then he/she realizes that he/she has mutilated him/herself and is no happier? I may be wrong as I don't know any of these people personally, but I think that the inclination to make this type of change is only a symptom of the underlying problem in most, if not all cases. JMO.
True, I'd be worried that they may be suicidal if this change does not bring harmoney into their life. There's got to be a better way.
On the otherhand, I'm a conservative libertarian. If that's what they want, OK, but don't force me to accept the action. I won't condemn you. If you can do the job, regardless of ---, etc then you get the job. Just don't change the job to match the person.

she said that is one of the hardest things for women coworkers to get over. they still think the GID is a guy (this actually continues for years sometimes) so they think he's being a perv or something.

Really? I don't understand why. Is this something that she researched? I would think that her still having to go into the men's room would be more of an issue. You all have open areas. We have private stalls. I have never once had anyone, ever, not even my best friend, look. Why would the women be upset over this? I don't get that. I can see the men being upset because most men think that someone is "checking them out" when the person is not. I can understand why men would have an issue, especially knowing that she is into men. She is not into women, quite obviously, so why would women at work have issues with it? That does not make sense to me at all. I have worked with a gay man. I am friends with two. Their lives do not bother me at all. They are not in drag, but the one that I worked with was beyond a flame. He used to make comments about people in fishnets. He said, "OOOHHHH Girl, I have that same pair at home!" It cracked me up. He was great and always kind.

i dunno sep... its just something that i had asked her when i was trying to figure out things, and this is what she told me. it's obviously an issue though, or she wouldn't have to go to seperate floors or buildings to go to the bathroom (not sure if you read the letter before i deleted it)
