hello i am really new at this but i am having a problem with a dark brown/black slimy algae type stuff i tryed scooping it out and i have tried stiring it in but it still comes back how can i get rid of it??

my tank is almost 4 months old. i dont have much of a clean up crew. a few crabs and snials in a 55 would more help?

if it's diatoms, then a good clean up crew would do wonders. but by it coming back, its gotta be something more to it. can you list everything in your tank, chemical parameters (especially nitrates and phosphates), how often you do water changes, live rock, sand or crushed coral and amounts, lighting, powerheads, filtration, how much you feed, etc?
