Yunabug's tank diary! Yay!

So, it's not very interesting so far. This is the second day it has been set up, so it's JUST NOW starting it's cycle through @_@
But! I am just so happy with it! I want to start a tank photo diary! As bare as my tank is right now, I'm just happy to have it!

Day 2. Tank is cleared up from dumping all the sand in there @_@ That was an adventure.

This is H.G., named after a character played by the Japanese comdian Razor Ramon.

Congratulations on getting a tank set up and welcome the boards. What size tank is it and what are your plans for it? Keep us updated with any progress.

You'll be glad you took pictures early in this adventure so you can see how things grow and change. You are at the hardest part right now. You must be very patient and wait for the water and tank to cycle completely. Now is the time to do your daily testing and watch for cycling. Then s-l-o-w-l-y add live stock. Don't do everything in a hurry or you'll lose a lot of money from things dieing off.

very nice! u will probably not get a long cycle since u dont hv much liverocks. add fish slowly, and monitor water parameters. good luck.

I plan on adding more live rock soon. I don't really care how long the cycle takes, because I want to make sure everything is PERFECT before I add anything that can die. I honestly don't think I'll add anything till about the end of November, even if I finish my cycle before then.

Good start!
I'd remove the hermits as they will not survive through the cycle. Do not add ANY living thing into your tank until you're through the cycle.

*sigh* My friend who set this up for me told me they would. Jeeezzzz.... I don't have anywhere to put them @_@
She's said they were sturdy enough to survive through the cycle.
Bummer.... I really like those little guys.

I have had no problems keeping hermits and snails in my tanks from day 1. I have done two tanks this way and had 99% survive. One Astrea snail died because he flipped onto his back. IMO they should be fine.

Made a trip to the LFS today! Bought 2 baby blue leg hermits, an emerald crab and one HUGE Turbo snail.
Also, about 5 days ago, a very nice lady GAVE me 25 lbs of live rock for free! In the process of killing the hair algae, and the snail and emerald are eating it up XD
