Nice tank, but out of curiousity how long has this tank been setup??? Were the animals moved from a previously setup system along with the sandbed?

Was that a Dragonette mandarin in the first pic behind the second clown and to the right in that cave? Your tank is to young for those. It needs to be established for about a year and have a refugium with live pods growing in it to feed the mandarin (if that's what it is). Your tank is also to young for an anenome. It should be well established (6 months to a year). You might want to read up on this stuff before you do it. The Anenome will find it's own place in your tank. I don't mean to sound like a flame but you spent so much time and effort getting everyones opinion on all the equipment and putting it all together and when you finally got to the end of the cycle you started dumping live animals in like you are in a hurry. What happened to all of the research and taking your time. (no flame here, just wondering what happened)

You are right, the Anenome that I bought too died (Pink Tipped). The ones you see in the picture came out of my liverock and are doing fine.
I can tell the mandarin is getting skinny. The clownfish fight and the Sea Horse has nothing to wrap his tail on because the crabs ate the plants!
. For some reason I decided to learn about the fish the hard way!
What do you recommend putting in the tank for the Mandarin for food? Where can I get plants the crabs don't eat that the seahorse will use?
I have to admit that the older this thread got the less feedback I got so I kind of stopped using it and went on my own way. I am still open to advice though, so post your thoughts.

The tank is two months old. I made a webpage about it,
*link violation No links to other competitor websites can be on the linked page *

I would take the mandarin back to the LFS or where ever you got it. Your tank is not ready for them or the seahorses. I would just have a few fish and get into a routine with the tank and them. Once the tank matures more then you could add either anenome's , corals or whatever.
Nice way to set upi the website about your tank, that's pretty cool. I would do that myself and was thinking of a webcam also but haven't had the time. I work in the IT business also but as an IT Specialist so it would not be difficult just time consuming. Good luck with the tank

that second to last picture looks like aptasia and should be gotten rid of. its a nuisance anenome and will multiply like crazy, and hurt your tank mates.

Looks good. Still shopping the place you mentioned earlier in this thread? How do they compare to HOT in the same neighborhood?

Zane its a wanderful site but the rules of the board are no links that are in direct competition with SWF and their online store unfortunatly your website has links where the equipment is which is against the forum rules and so has to be removed. If you would like to re-add your site please take those links off before reposting it. your gallery looks great!!

1 x Mushroom Polyp - Green Ricordea
1 x Feather Duster - Group of 3

1 x Pink Tip Haitian Anemone

yes the problem is where you link from your site to the competitors sites for information on certain products. The clickable links on the right side bar inder equipment.
and I did notice that you got a lot of stuff from the store here but its just on of the board rules that have to be followed. Sorry

Well the last couple months have been a bummer. I went to connecticut on business and came back to find the Flame Angelfish completely gone. No dead fish, no bones, nothing. My Fiancee said that nothing happened while I was gone. Big mystery.
Soon after the death of the Flame Angel I decided to go to my LFS and buy a juvenile emperor angel. I was pumped, beautiful fish. I got it home, did the usual acclimation, and put it in my tank. Unfortunately the damn fish had ick. I lost it as well as the Green Manderin. Ended up making a hospital tank and putting in my remaining 4 fish. I used some Ick free tablets that seemed to work pretty well. Fish seem a lot better. They were twitching in an awkward manner for awhile but I think that is a characteristic of Ick.
To make a long story short. Next time I buy a fish I am going to keep it separate small tank away from my main tank for a month or two. At least I have had an experience with ick with a semi good ending.

Yes qt is very important in this hobby, unfortunatly that means you have ick in your main tank now, the only way to deal with that is remove all your fish to a hospital tank treat them with hypo and leave your main tank empty for six weeks, otherwise you can quarentine everything but they still may get ick as soon as they are introduced to your tank. Emperor angels get way too big for a 55 anyways, don't forget to research, you haven't learned your lesson yet? Tank looks good though. Glad to see you are still around.
