Zebra Flounder INFO: NEED HELP!

Hey Guys
I just had to add a zebra flounder to my tank. The lady at the fish store mentioned it was a filter feeder and eats leftovers in the substrate. I know better because I have caught many flounder from the ocean with shrimp and minnows. What is a healthy food choice for flounder. I would prefer to give him something alive since they are indeed ambush predators. If anyone has some information regarding my topic, I would be very thankful!

there isnt a lot of stuff available to us that is live and affordable. how big of a tank do you have. dont know about the specific species here, but most flounders get big. I would try some uncooked seafood from the grocery store.

If you are wanting live food, gut loaded ghost shrimp are your best choice, but being in a home aquarium, and for a more diverse food selection it is better for the animal for you to buy mixed frozen foods and put it on a stick and shake it around to feed it

never feed freshwater feeders to him, THey introduce disease and have 0 nutritional value to SW fish. My friend got a bad batch of rosy reds from ***** one day and fed to his cichlids, everyone dead 2 days later.
def stick to frozen foods. Try silversides, but not san fransico brand, use hikari they are much better quality

filter feeder...like a clam or worm? you go smack that lady at the pet store.
Anyway they eat meaty foods, and are pretty good at hunting down ghost shrimps. but its prolly easiest to goto the grocery store and buy gulf shrimp, uncooked w/ shell on, and cut it into bite sized pieces. Also any cheap on sale white fleshed SW fish works great too.
But really anything meaty will be fine, just remember that your flounder will get to be 18-20" large as an adult, and will pot shot or snipe any small moving invert or fish.
Their a great fish- really cool, and cryptic, but they have a hearty appetite

Actually, freshwater feeders cannot introduce disease to a saltwater tank. But they are very fatty and are not healthy for saltwater fish.
