Hello evryone, two days ago I bought a rock 6"X7" that is covered with maybe 200 zoo's with about 5 different kinds. bright green with red mouth and with blue mouth, some are red with blue mouth, some are all bright green and blue. Anyhow my problem is that only about 1/3 of the are opening. These are my first zoo's and I think I got an awesome piece, I got the rock for $50, seemed like a good deal to me, is it?
My question is this:
how long till I should expect the majority of the polyps to open?

Be patient. It takes a couple of days. Mine didn't open up for like a week.

That was a good price IMO. They will get used to the new environment and look as beautiful as they did when you bought them.

thanks for the words of encouragment, I will be more patient. I have 130 watts of pc lighting over a 20 long, will they thrive in this lighting? I use 1 65watt actinic, and 1 65watt 50/50. I use wet/dry with rio 2800, a seaclone 100 skimmer, 30 lb live rock.

Here's a pic of my 20 long with the same setup except im using 2 50/50 PC lights. It could be that you have too much actinic and not enough of 10K lighting.

sounds like a good price to me i paid 55 for a little rock with orange zoo's on it.
