Do you need more than one zoanthid on a rock for more to grow? What number works best for growth. I want to start fraging so I can get a few small rocks to trade for different frags.
At least one polyp. Growth is exponential, the more polyps you have the faster they grow. One polyp turns to two, two to four, four to eight, eight to sixteen, ect.
I would shoot for at least 5 polyps per frag. Cutting out one polyp is really difficult without severely injuring it or killing it. With five polyps you are safe and know the frag will survive.
