You can use something as basic as PC lighting, but to really bring out the colors, t5 or MH are the way to go....
Glue them onto a tile, marble, or piece of rubble.

Thanks,
What is t5? I'm new to this hobby. What size MH for this 40 gallon? It's pretty short,I think like 18" tall.I thought they needed dimmer light's,but I've only read so much on them.I was planing on a Orbit pc with actinic as well, but I could go another route, haven't purchased anything yet.
If they already come on a rock or marble do you glue that to the rock or place it on? I never got this far in thought yet so it cool to learn something new.
One last ? is this a good refugium design?
Thanks alot,
Cory

T5 is a different type of light, similar to PC but higher intensity. Some say it's equivalent to MH, but personally my zoas do better under my MH than they did under T5 of similar intensity.
For that tank you could "get away with" a 150w light but personally I'd go 250w. If you're going to use this to grow out zoa frags, use a 10k bulb, if you want to bring out the color more as a display tank you could use a 14k bulb. You could also always get a fixture with a 10k MH bulb and some actinic PC bulbs for color.

Thanks,
I plan on just a display tank.So this lighting is not to much for the zoo's?
So I want to go for a 250w MH with some actinic blues as well?
Thanks,
Cory

Shouldn't be a problem, depending on where they're placed. In fact, mine have really enjoyed the "extra" light in my DT, I've got 4 175w 10k MH and 4 160w VHO over a 180g. It's a ton of light, and though some of my LPS likes it at the bottom of the tank, the zoas are scattered all over and they're all doing well.

Thats sound pretty good,I want to have them scattered around as well.I'll probably throw in a couple mushrooms and xenia as well.I plan on having a pair of clowns in this tank as well.Do I want to suspend this light over the tank will that help?
Thanks,
Cory
Can you answer me this?I plan on a 10gallon refugium,I'm going to use a 300gph overflow, what do I need for a return pump(gph),and what suggestions on a proteinskimmer?
