They look like blasto merletti's and the "marble" looks like bubble algae.

yup those are blastos and Bubble Algea. Pick it off with some tweezers

and i seriously doubt his trates are 0 and that he didnt test them. if a tank has a spec of algae it cant have 0 trates. and zooxanthellae on corals count as algae so if ou have corals your nitrates cant possibly be 0. close, but not 0.

again, depends on where you live. i use tap for my tank. chlorine evaporates faster than water, pH is the same, i dont have metals, and if its a quick rinse its fine. I use tap and havent had algae in my tanks since 2 months after i started, and nitrates are always below 10.
Maybe in Florida where there is more muddy swampland they may treat the water using stuff unhealthy for corals, but just because its tap, doesnt make it a sin.

I doubt you have NO metals in your tap water, even most of the high powered RO/DI systems cant get all of the metals out
