    Starfish Without Legs!

Powder Blue Tang I had just received the starfish about a week before. I went through the long acclimation period with him and he was doing fine and then I noticed that the tips of the legs were gone and then more was bitten off the legs. I don't know if maybe my clowns though he was going to...

    Grape Caulerpa

Does anyone know where I can purchase about 2 lbs of grape caulerpa? I would like to have it in long strands instead of just pieces? Some of the LFS want $24 for a small handfull. My tang and angels eat it but I want to purchase a large amount of it. If anyone knows where I can buy caulerpa they...

    Starfish Without Legs!

I had a white sand sifter starfish and something ate all his legs off and only left the body. I have 3 black starfish, would they have done this? I had a sand sifter before and never had any trouble but the black brittle starfish were not in the tank at the time. [ October 25, 2001: Message...

    Problem With PH

For the past two years I have had trouble getting my PH above 8.0. My water out of the faucet test 8.0 and the reverse osmosis water test 8.0. My alkalinity is high and I have a good calcium range. I have added PH 8.2 and Kent's PH Plus and nothing I add into the tank raises the PH. I have added...

IronReef They move pretty fast so maybe it is bristle worms. I haven't seen them in a couple of days. Thanks :)

    Swimming Worms In Aquarium?

SammyStingRay No they do not look like the shrimp you had pictured. They look more in the lava stage. I just looked in the aquarium and I do not see them tonight. The eyes do not glow like shrimp but you can just see small eyes. Sorry I can't give info but the body is solid white. Thanks

    Swimming Worms In Aquarium?

IronReef The body of the worms are white and real small. I cannot see any feelers or legs. The body is not transparent but is solid white. You can see tiny eyes on them. Could they possible be baby fish? I've never had any fish to breed in my tank but I do have a mated pair of clowns. I've never...

    Swimming Worms In Aquarium?

I was looking in my reef tank last night and all the lights had been turned off for some time. I got a flashlight and was just looking to see what I could find that was new. I noticed a lot of worm type things swimming around in the tank and they would come up to the glass where the light was...

How do you catch a crab?

I had to catch some grabs out of my tank and I would turn the lights off and then later in the night I would shine a low beam flash light in the tank and reach in and catch them.I did this for several night until I had all of them out that I needed to take out.

    Acropora Bleaching

BurnNSpy Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have had computer problems and haven't been on line lately. I have 3 175W 12K metal halides. One of them is positioned over the back of the tank the other two are positioned across the front. I have a double strip light( both strips in one...

    Acropora Bleaching

Luke I raised the PH yesterday and I have not changed anything on the lighting yet. The Acropora was already bleaching before I changed the salinity. I am waiting on someone to tell me if I need to change my lighting. It was suggested that I add a daylight bulb (6500K) and add a actinic but I...

    Acropora Bleaching

Deep Blue I have a 65K bulb but what are you talking about using a blue actinic on the side? Are you talking about a strip light using the blue actinic bulb? I had a double strip across the back of the aquarium and I took it off and added another 175W metal halide. Should I go back to the strip...

    Acropora Bleaching

DeepBlue The Acro that is bleaching was on top of the aquarium under a metal halide so I don't know if that was the problem or not. I may have to remove one of the 12K blue and replace it with a daylight bulb but don't know what Kelvin I should use if I have to do this. Thanks for your reply!

    Acropora Bleaching

BurnNSpy The 3 metal halides are 175W, two metal halides are the blueline bulb and one is a 50/50. The Acro's are proprogated, the water perimeters are salinity 1.025, calcium 450, iodine 0.6, phosphate 0, nitrate 0.5, alkalinity is 5.50. I don't know what type of lights the Acro's where under...

    Acropora Bleaching

Trey I have had the Acropora several months. The reason it is on top is because that is where I was told to put it for more light when I bought it. I've always had it on the top. Is it possible that the blueline metal halide is not strong enough for it? Since it has started bleaching, will it...
