ACTINIC LIGHTING

I have a 12g Eclipse system with only one slot for a 18" flourescent tube. The only lighting I have is one Marine-Glo (actinic lighting). I have 15 pounds of live rock, 2-3" sand bed, and 4 fish including 2 false percs, 1 neon goby, and 1 green chromis. Is this lighting fine for such a small tank?

i set up a 12g eclipse for my father about ayear ago now. i put a 32w smart light from csl in it. he has shrooms and leathers, and they all seem to be thriving in that light. it only cost 50 bucks, so that isn't so bad.

I set up a 12g Eclipse about 6 months ago and ended up having this same question. I bought a 32 watt Power Compact RetroFit Kit by SmartLite, and I love it, it looks good, and I've seen serious purple coraline algae growth. I spent about $65 on this and it was worth every cent. As far as needing a new light goes, I would upgrade, mainly so you'll have more options with this tank (corals, etc.) down the road.

i have a bubble-tip anemone and several polyps. They seem to be doing good but i do want a compact flourescent but can't find any retro fit systems or something like that
