Anyone still finding Southdown or OldCastle sand anywhere?

Ha ha.
Just saw your other post! :hilarious
Is there a reason for this particular sand? Just curious.
All I have used in the past 10 years or so is "real" live sand. Pricey, but well worth it IMO.
Not a sand "snob", I just don't trust playsand.

Yes, there are tons of people using this sand, however, they stopped producing it two years ago...
The island that the sand came from decided to stop letting them mine it...

There are bags in circulation, just hard to find.
The sand is the exact same sand as Carib Sea sells. Carib Sea sells it under the name called Oolite.
Carib Sea sells it for $20 a 30 pound bag, where as Southdown and Oldcastle sell it for $4 a 50 pound bag...
You do the math! lol

WOW, I wonder how I missed that little nugget!
I'm still amazed at how much you can learn even after 15 years!

I'll keep my eyes open for some of that.

Here in the cincinnati OH area I still see it from time to time. I got 200lbs worth of it for around $20 about 3-4 years ago. I was 1 happy camper
