I would agree...
If you "need" to pick one soft coral that grows fast, takes up a bunch of room and adds a "splash" of color...
Mushrooms would be it...

Just put the zoo rock on top of another, or the other way around, and they will just spread on their own.

If you "just" lay a rock that has Zos on it, on another piece of LR...
Eventually, the zo colony will "multiply" and spread on to the other rock...
I had a "finger" sized/shaped piece with zos on it that I placed in a crevise of two rocks...a couple (6-8) weeks later I can not move the finger shaped rock cause the zos spread on both sides and "grew" the rock in place...
If you don't want to "wait" for haphazzard growth patterns you can look into "fragging" zos on to your "display rock"
I believe Kip has been working on a multi-colored piece...

Mines about 5"-6" and only has a "few" sweepers during the day...
But you should check yours at night..

Give him some room...if those sweepers "connect" with another coral they WILL kill it...
I thought I had a pic of mine where he reached out and "touched" a zo polyp...probably 8"-10" away...(can't find it :notsure: )
Next day That polyp was dead...
