I have never even used bioballs. some members on here still use it, but if you have a refugium and live rock in your tank, you don't really need bioballs.

i have once. i wouldnt really recomend it. unless you are pulling he whole set-up apart, cuz all the junk that sin the bio-balls will get into the system if you dont take care of them proporly. i just used some white vinigar. to clean them. but i dont really think it was needed

Yes you should rinse down you're bio balls every six months. They build up debris on them. Just take then out and rinse in a sink. After six months when you take them out you'll see what I mean.

i read that you should pull half out at a time , also soak them in extra salt water ... shake them up ..then clean the others in about 2 weeks
