Built in or Hang on

I am buying a new 120g and I was wondering if I should get a built in overflow or buy a hang on. The guy at the store told me he prefers hang ons to built ins but that is the opposite of what I had always thought. Any ideas?

I would go with the built in. There is no siphon to lose with a built in and you can put your tank closer to the wall.

Problem with built in is that they tend to much more expensive. You will lose more space in the tank with a built in. For looks built in overflows are more pleasent to the eye.
As for performance they are the same. If you get the right type of overflow there isn't a problem with losing the prime. That is an issue with cpr overflows, but the overflow that came with my sealife system it isn't an issue.
Your choice.

your best bet are the built in overflows, they aren't that much more expensive they never come apart and they look that much better, plus you canput it as close to the wall as you want it
