Can i add another lyretail

to be more exact a male lyretail, i already have a female inside the tank. Will they fight if i add it in?
Its a 55 gallon tank, going to have a maroon

I remember hearing that Lyretail's are idealy kept 1 male to 3-4 females. I'm not 100% positive on that, though. I do remember that they say not to have more than one male per tank...

yeah lyretail
yeah i heard one male and a group of females but my tank is too small for a group of females

to keep a male lyertail anthias you must keep 2 females if one female dies the male will become female. for mated anthias they sell in trios. very cool looking fish.

I have one male and eight females in my 180 gallon reef and they do really well as a group. I would not, however, add a male to your tank. I think you would be better off adding 2-3 more females. Anthias will change gender, but from female to male - not the other way around. If you add a few more females, one of them will likely change to a male - this is what happened in my tank when I initially introduced 12 females.
