So what is the best way to clean the filter media in a Nu Clear 533 filter?
It is not my main filtration, I use it as a mechanical filter to get the gunk in the water (25 micron filter). For this reason I am not concerned about killing any live bacteria that may be living in the media. I have replaced the media twice and it did not start a cycle (as suggested in another post).
The problem is that this media is about $50. I would really like to be able to reuse the old unit!
Simply swishing it in saltwater doesn't release all the gunk.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
