Do I need Electric Protection?

:jumping: Soon I will set up a 46 gallon bowfront tank.

Before I start fill water in the tank, Here the question. Should I buy such as Power Surge Protection with back-up for all of my equipment?
A Best insure to prevent from shocking in case if accident should happen or electric shock caused by equipment malfunction?
or
Do I need to hire an electrician man to come over here and do some outlet modification for the aquarium?
Thanks

GFCI is a must in my opinion.
If you're not handy with electricity then hiring someone is a great idea.

Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor.
Its a recepticle that you replace the standard wall recepticle with. It cuts the power if something shorts out.
They are about $15 at Home Depot.

GFCI is great. My pump just shorted out yesterday and the GFCI tripped and cut the power, just like it's supposed to do.
