Fish Poo

My first tank is really coming along well. I've got 50 pounds of live rock, a tomato clownfish, and a yellow tang. I'm really enjoying it. Expensive hobby, but addictive too.
I have noticed that my live rock is getting some good algae going. I've added snails for cleaning purposes, plus added activity is always good IMO.
I've also noticed that my sand is slowly becoming covered in what looks like a thin layer of green algae. I'm also spotting fish poo resting at the bottom.
What's the best approach to this? Am I to clean it? Do I leave it? Do I risk unsettling some kind of "bio-stasis" or something similar if I try to remove it? Can I introduce an organism that will clean it for me?
Thanks in advance.
