Getting the bike back on the road, expensive!

I have fallen from the pure faith and have ridden my CB750 3 or 4 times in the past 2 years. Not good. Not good at all. Won't hardly run so I had it towed to my local Honda shop. Needs the following: rebuild and gasket set 4 carbs, pull the gas tank, flush, and clean, new chain, new fork seals, new clutch cable, new battery, some critters were living in the air filter, replacing some wires said critters chewed up, new spark plugs, oil and filter change, state inspection, pickup and drop off. Only $1300. Yow! I told the service guy when he called me that he should have warned me to bend over before he gave me the price.
Anyway, the bike is only a 2003 and it still looks great-no rust, paint is great, and the tires are still good. I had the same model bike (1990 model) and had it for 13 years, never covered, always outside but because I actually rode it regularly the only thing I had to do in those 13 years was to replace the battery about 3 times and change the oil regularly.
I should know better, I am a maintenance specialist. At least that's what I tell my boss. I WILL be riding it regularly now.

I had a Honda CB750 a long time ago...LOL...In NY. I loved it, but with 4 kids who had time for it....so you know what happened to it

I thought about getting another bike a couple of years ago, I would love a shadow (has to be low) but I don't think it's convenient where I live right now.

Hondas are pretty much bullet proof, but I guess thay can't stand up to prolonged lack of use. I put in 9 hours today and will be working tomorrow to pay that bill. Next weekend too and it should be taken care of. 'Course I'm now too busy to ride due to work but I will be taking it to work as soon as it is done.
Got any new pics of Riley?
