Lompoc?!(For those not familiar, it's pronounced Lompoke, not Lompock). Growing up, my uncle lived in Lompoc and worked at Vandenburg AFB. Visited him 3-4 times a year. He always had some interesting trip to take us on. Just to mention one was Shark Tooth Hill. About 20+ miles inland from the ocean, this ancient fossil bed contained tons of fossil shark teeth. Just a little digging and you could get quite a collection.
And then there was the bronze cannon his scuba diving club raised from the sunken reck of the "Yankee Blade".
Always something great going on. May he RIP. I miss him.
You have GOT to fill me in on this fossil bed. I have been looking for shark teeth for years now, to no avail. I would love to take my family up and search for some shark teeth. We drove up to Hearst Castle this weekend and that fossil bed would have been the icing on the cake. That reminds me...I should post some pics of the castle.
Lompoc is also kinda famous for this...

I don't know that very many people realized what I meant by "work release from Lompoc."

Porkchop48 - my father was born in Weirton, WV. My grandfather worked in the mines until he got blacklung disease. Just prior to WWII, my uncles were in the Navy and stationed in Southern California. The climate was drier there and better for grandpa's health so the moved out there in the mid to late 30's.
Never been to Weirton, but would like to know more about it.
Small world.
Weirton is a tiny little town. About 20,000 people. It is slowly turning into gambleton instead of weirton. They passed a gaming law a few years back and now there is over 100 little cafe/casinos in it.
The biggest employer ( weirton steel) has gone from employing over 20,000 people to about 1200 people in the last 10 years or so. They have started tearing down part of the mill to make way to build new building so hopefully they helps my litte town.
We do have one lone pet store though. Just one. Caught on fire almost 2 years ago. Butch helped remodel it and I got all the used tank. Woo HOO.
That is all I can think of for now I am sure I will remember more when I am more awake.

Hello everyone,
My name is Frank, 32 yrs. old married for two years to Jessica. My wife and I bought our house before we got married, living there for three years now. We have our goofy dog Sarge (look left), three cats- Shadow, Sera and Semo and a Parrot named Skittles (by now you should see the "S" usage in names). This was coincidental at first. If you have seen me around the threads you know the story of Sophia, our daughter.
I have been into SW for 8 months and will be starting my second nano by weeks end. I also love the 80's generation, especially Transformers and Star Wars (without the over the top dorkiness). I work at a Nursing home as a Director of Facilities and Environmental Services. Love working on cars and buying them I guess. Currently I drive a 07 Mazda CX-7, wife is cruising around in her 06 Subie WRX. Before the mazda I had a 06 Eclipse GT (cars suck) and my own 03' Subie Baja before that.
I am an avid collector of DVD's, Transformers, Star Wars and tools (
). Don't drink, use to smoke cigs, love football (go Seahawks) could care less about baseball.
Don't care that Rebel is black or dates a white girl. I say more power to you, as blondes are the best...
.
Well thats just a little about me! Great thread and hope to see alot more people do this.

I'll play.
I'm Miriam, but no one calls me that save my parents and my Husband. Y'all know me as Mimzy, and so does everyone else

I'm 26, married for 4 years to Andrew - also 26, and we just moved from Jersey to Pennsylvania where we bought our first house.

I was a vet-tech for 3years until I discovered that veterinarians are terrible people to work for
, so I went in to business for myself. I now run and operate my own cake design firm; Frosted Fixation. I've always been an artist at heart, but now I actually get paid to do what I LOVE and it's AWESOME.

We've got a basset hound, Roland, whom we rescued, and two cats; Lilly & Whisky running around thinking they own place. I had a 12g nano reef for 2yrs, but it crashed while my Husband and I were out of the country. I've got a 40g flat-hex waiting to be cycled, and now that we're settled in to the new house, it's only a matter of time before I get it started up!

I was born in SoCal (Pasadena), raised in NorCal (Bay Area). I've never lived outside of CA my entire 25 years of life. I've been married for 4 years and have a 10 month old Daughter. I'm a professional musician and have done a majority of my musical work at various churches all throughout CA working as a Director of Music & Arts. I've also done a lot of work leading Jr. High and High School church groups. I took part in building 16 homes in Mississippi for the refugees of Hurricane Katrina.
I used to have 3 tanks - a 14, 34, and a 120. Because I quit my last job, I tried liquidating everything I could and now am left with only my 34. I used to have many cars, namely a 1960 Ford F-100 with a 351 cleveland in it and stricght pipes out the back (that thing was LOUD) and also had a 1979 International Scout II, lifted 8 inches with 35" swampers on it. That was my favorite. Now all I've got is my stock 06 Tundra DoubleCab... my wife drives an '04 4Runner. I've owned a 96 firebird, 05 Civic (lowered, 17's, cat-back exhaust) My wife drove a GTI mkV before we got pregnant. The last pic I posted is the car that I WILL own one day! (2010 Camaro)

Wow, I didn't know you were grammer

I tried to do some research on the Shark Tooth Hill I remember. I was quite young at the time and there is no one left in the family that can give me the exact location. However, I found a couple of sites that refer to it.
I don't know if it's open to the public anymore, but these sites will give some good information on it.
BTW I got your reference to the work release right off!

My real name is Courtney. I am a marine biology major at college here in Santa Barbara. I work at an aquarium here and am also a violin teacher. I dance ballet professionally. I am 20 years old, I have 2 cats, a dog, and a 29 gal. I moved here from Chicago in December and really miss it.
Also...I have schizophrenia. That was hard for me to say, considering my last bf left me when he found out, but I'm trying to be more open about it.
