Going MH.....

As we talk I am having a canopy built for one of my 42 gallon hexs. I am getting ready to purchase a MH setup from a company on the web I was referred to.
My question is: If I purchase a 175 watt MH and run 2 36 watt PCs can I start working on growing some SPS? I know water quality is just as important and I will also work on that. I currently have a bunch of mushrooms some yellow star polyps and a nice size leather. I will move those to the bottom. I know I will go through some algae problems I just don't want to kill my softies. I will get them use to the MH by only having it on for short periods of time to start.
Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

You don't think running a 250 MH on my hex is to much? I am going to purchase a 4" fan from the same place that I buy the light from. Question...when I install the fan do I install it so I push air into the hood or pull heated air out of the hood?
Sorry to hear about your 50 gallon crash. That was a beautiful tank. I'm sure your next one will be even better!
