My dogface puffer has been acting strange and he has white spots everywhere on him. Is marine ich the same and freshwater ich with the spots. If this is ich how do u treat marine ich with other fish in the tank. The only other fish that looks like it may have ich is my humahuma. This is a 125 fowlr tank.

Please read the information about ich and hyposalinity in Beth's Common Treatment FAQ located at the top of this forum. How much live rock do you have?

about 70lbs. Have read her column but I don't have a QT tank, so what do I need to do?
You can remove the rock, and any inverts, into a rubber maid tub with a heater and a power head. Do you have a refractometer? You can perform hyposalinity on the display.

not a refractometer but i have a good glass hydrometer that has been accurate by comparing w/ the local fish store readings.

The glass hydrometer will work. It wouldn't hurt to bring a sample to your LFS once and awhile once the level is down, just to be sure. Be sure to watch the PH. It has a tendency to drop with less salt mix in the water. The mix has a buffer in it. You may need to compensate for the lack of buffer by adding some buffer. Dissolve it in tank water before adding it to the tank.
