helping a new tank cycle

hey i was just wondering if giving my friend a filter cartridge and some of my sand will help his tank cycle faster. He just set it up today. thanks for the help guys.

It should help I threw on of my emperor 400s on my 125 when I was switching tanks for all the bacteria in the biowheel and about a pound of sand from the old tank into the new.

sounds good thanks greg. im going to give hime some sand and a filter cartridge. do you know how long until he can add some crabs and rock?

You should already have rock in there helping it cycle I would wait at least a week or 2 before crabe expecially if he doesn't have any LR in there already.

he was planning a fish only tank i think. I will tell him to get some rock though to get the cycle going.
