Hermits and Toads

I have one blue legged hermit crab that won't leave my Toadstool alone. Can he do damage? I can't tell if he's picking up junk or picking on the toadstool.
Should I banish him to the sump?

which size is either of them? and the hermit is probably just pickin stuff of it

on the top or on the base? hes just pickin thing off it. does the toads poplys close when hes on it? if they do after awhile the toad will get use to the hermit.

The toadstool is 4 wide inches at the top. He doesn't seem to mind, but I just moved hi a little higher in the tank a couple days ago. I had to trim some rocks away from his foot to get him into his permanent location, so I didn't want him to have any more stress. Just to be safe, if put the hermit crab in the penalty box for now (siphon box). He can do some cleanup in there for a while.
