Could kicking up all that detritus cause a nitrate spike or anything like that? How long does it take for the tank to look good again after a water change?
Nope....IMHO a tank properly setup with proper water circulation inside the tank should keep detritus in the water column where it can get picked up through your media in your sump or by the skimmer. So no it won' create a spike and it clears up rather quickly.....

I like going through the old threads you can always learn something. Thanks reefkprz. The power head part never thought of that.

Good thread, and good job Morgan175 for bring it back in 2012!!!
I try to do my WC's this way all the time (meaning using a PH to blow off the rocks), but I need to get better at doing it every time. I do weekly WC's and every other one I will speed thru it and not get the powerhead out. This thread will help me get better at doing it every time.
