Is this normal so early??????

I have a 125 that has been in cycle for about 4 weeks. My ammonia spiked and is down to 0 my trites spiked at 5 and are down to about .75. I have green algae growning on the tops of the live rock,substrate, and skimmer pipes. It is green algae and is not thick yet. I keep my lights on about 10-12 hours a day. Is this normal so early??

Yup, no need to keep lights on that long though. During cycle will only help to encourage algae growth.

I agree I would cut lights down to about 6-8 hours a day during the cycle. I usually (but not always) cycle my tanks with no lights at all to prevent premature algae growth.
