I want a dwarf lion and a maroon clown, and some jawfish. My 65 gallon tank just finished cycling (took 3 weeks). I wanted a panther grouper, but have decided the tank is too small. Maybe we'll get some fire fish (dwarf lion cuisine??), a hawk nose, etc. I need suggestions of hardy fish. We want a dwarf or pigmy angel too but I think we'll wait a few months. Thanks

Some hardy fish are:
1. Royal gramma: very pretty, colorful
2. false percula clownfish: Very hardy, colorful
3. firefish: Sometimes they can be a bit shy, cool looking fish and above all hardy,
4. lawnmower blenny: Hardy IMO, do a good job eating algea.
5. Tamato clown: Aggresive but hardy should not be kept with other clowns.
6. Maroon clown: not the hardiest clown but still is hardier than most species of fish.
7. Damsel: one of the hardiest fish I know of and very aggressive, but you probably already knew that.
Those are a few hardy fish that I know of. :D

Thanks. I just got back from the store with my first new inhabitants (besides the 2 hermits). I got a dwarf lion, a royal grama, and a large blue spotted damsel. I guess the damsel will be a problem if I try to introduce a maroon clown later.

The lion is really small, under 2", and the gramma won't eat much. I'll be real careful about rationing food for a while.

i would try to pick fish that get the same size as the lion. lions will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. i would be cautious with firefish, pseudochroms, and smaller clowns. i would stick with the maroon. you after the tank matures a little you could go with a smaller type of tang like a kole, bristletooth, or maby a purple tang. stay away from the larger species.
