he is just not used to the tank yet.
might want to turn off the lights for a while.

just watch yourself putting you hand in the tank untill he mellows out.i have almost gotten stuck a few times by mine.

Mine never did that but they all have their own character. Hopefully he'll settle in. They're great fish!

Sharp & Poisonous, some people can develop a very nasty reaction to being stung like being allergic to a bee sting so be careful.

I just recently purchased one, and he's doing the same routine as yours against one side of the QT tank. I think he's just playing with his reflection....but mine hasn't tried to attack it, so his nose is still intact.

I read once that foxface periodically shed the outer layer of their teeth, and it can look a little like a "shell" hanging from their mouth...is it possible that this is what you're seeing?

well his nose is starting to heal, but still seems the same, always at one end swimming up and down. i mean it has become slightly less. that and i really dont see him eating. i tried nori, krill, and life line

no it actually looks like the skin peeled back from banging it on the glass.
yours still doing it?

Nope. His QT was up on Friday, so he went into the display on Friday night. He really acclimated well to the rest of the tank inhabitants....no issues to speak of, and he's pretty active around the whole tank. Ironically he seems to have set up a home base UNDER the RBTA (the maroon clown's territory) but the clown doesn't seem to mind. They had one or two minor scuffles, but he just flared his dorsal rays and the clown backed down. Now the clown hangs out IN the nem, and the Fox guards the territory just underneath it.
