NEED ADVICE REAL FAST!!!!

OK, i have a 40gallon breeder tank with a 35 gallon sump and a amiracle overflow box. i just switched my pump to a mag 7 for the return. i have 1 inch piping from the overflow to the sump, and half inch piping for the return. my question is, will the overflow be able to handle the new return flow?? this sucker is really pumping fast!!! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

u definatly need ball valve somewhere either on you overflow pipe or your return.u can even lengthen your return hose if your return is to fast.this will slow down the head power.

put a ball valve on the return side, and adjust your overflow the intake box that is in your tank is as low as you can put it

I'm not understanding the replies, If you have a overflow box, with the sump, the overflow will keepup with whatever size pump you put in it, if the diameter of the overflow is large enough, Maybe I didn't read it right. I use a tidelpool SOS Prefilter overflow, it uses 2" hose into the filter, but the overflow is .5X4" oval, I am pumping with a rio 2500, and rio 1700 back into the tank at 4'of head pressure they are rated at 500gph, and 350gph respectivley. My tank level increased till the overflow caught up, but it running full open with no valves, I do have one way valves in place for saftey. What is the Rated flow rate of the Mag?
