I personally dont really like jettas.. I think they are a very girly car lol now a GTI... or GLI then your talking a serious car! If you want crazy power in a small package the Mazda speed3 is also really fast and hard to drive do to the crazy power in the little light weight body lol
and 5 speeds own all, thats what my truck is and I wouldnt change it for the world!

now the GTI has a turbo engine and intercooler! and 5 speed and manual! oh man! and the GLI is a beast to! and how can you think the jetta is a girl car!

now now now dont be hating on American muscle lol keep in mind who is still talking here haha I do like euro cars BUT they cost soo much more to maintain its just not in the cards for me right now lol not with school and stuff
I dont know the jetta just says "chick car" to me.. you always see super hot girls driving them lol then I try to catch them and usually am the one who gets pulled over haha.
the speed3 is nice, I took it for a spin and from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it just pulls all over the road due to lack of weight and WAY to much power lol

eh I have had no issues with American and have seen a crap little Honda break down all the time. euro cars last longer because they are VERY picky about replacement parts... the ALL regardless of what the sticker tells you require higher octane fuel to run at peak efficiency and last long, they all need a very high quality of oil like Mobil 1 full synthetic, o ya and to change out a gas cap its going to cost you $200 lol

if you like the mazda 3, look into the cx-7 AWD. Basically the same thing but bigger so the power to weight ratio is not as bad. I love mine, but you are right, we had to replace the gas cap twice because it was sending check engine errors. Thankfully covered by warranty. Mine is the 2007, my wife has the 2006 WRX Subie. Before the Mazda I had the 06 Eclipse GT, nice power but horrible torque steer and the ******** was blah.
