Nitrite is high

Ive had my tank operating for about one week now, and everything is looking ok except my Nitrite. It's 5.0 still. I used cured LR, so got no spike, just the trites. They are holding fast at 5.0. Wont budge.
Guy at the shop said to just wait it out.
I would like more opinions.

You weren't suppossed to add any livestock until cycle is done.
Nitrite is toxic to marine organisms, but they're not as toxic as ammonia.
The Snails will probably make it, but keep checking levels and don't let the trites climb too high.
Soon your trites will turn to trates, this is when u can do your first waterchange and start stocking aquarium.
