Noise Levels

Hello all,
How critical is noise? My powerhead is just about done for and is generating a lot of noise. I unplugged it but it made me wonder what effect noise had on the fish. Are some more sensitive than others? Does it create stress?
Of course it may seem like a pointless question for a problem I will fix anyway

I have heard that jawfish hate the sound of those bubble rings and bubble rods.

I am not sure about any others though.
