Jillian - don't drown it in the booze! Hang in there...and think about it. If this guy truly loves you (and if you've been together for 2 1/2 years, I am going to assume he does), then you losing your job isn't going to get in the way of that. Jobs come and go. You'll get another one.
And, I know you don't want to hear this, but if he doesn't come around, and a small set back like losing a job is going to get between you and him, then you don't want him anyway.
Besides...(ok, here comes the kiss of death line) You're young! and...(ok...now for the saltwater fish line...) There are plenty of other.....(wait for it...) fish in the sea!!! heh heh...
