Hey man,
Boy, a tough couple of weeks for you here. What kind of skimmer is it again? I don't remember from when we were in the sump rerouting the drain. Do you know what pump is on it?

If it's not working, take it apart again and keep going thru it. There has to be something that you didn't put back right. Tank is fine while you figure it out, but disect it...figure it out now so you will know next time.

I took it apart about a dozen times and put it back together the same way. when i take off the thing that lets air bubbles in it spins. when i close that part and twist it on it stops spinning.

Is the little propeller hitting something? Is the air intake blocked? Is the propeller shaft cracked or broken? There's really not much that can go wrong with assembling one of these pumps and it works simple enough. One time I had one that didn't spin but that was because the propeller shaft broke.

nothing is broke but you know how you put the proppeler in the hole that the magnet side goes in. then like there is a stick that goes through that to keep it in place, a little black piece on top. when i screw back on the top the little black piece stops it from spinning. i take the black piece off and it doesnt spin still. what kinda pump can i buy for an ASM g1 if i cant get this crap to work? i tried so many times and there isnt much to do with it.

how long will the system be ok without runnin a skimmer?
i have the 3 eels.

Increase the frequency/amounts of your water changes and the tank will be fine for now. Do you have a lfs that you can carry it into? They usually have somebody around that half-way knows what they are doing. Call around, look for one that does setups and such. Be prepared that the wrong one might say..."this is toast" and try to sell you on something new, but some of them are really helpful.

honestly i don't have time for w/c due to school and work so i don't wanna lie and say ok i will do that, but i will call around and see if someone can help me with the pump. i got the skimmer from aquiatictech a few years back, they still carry all the ASM skimmers so i am gonna call and see how much it will be to just get a new pump since the one i have is over 3 years old.

Sometimes old pumps just won't start up when underwater. I know the pump on my BakPak 2 is like that. I have to take the pump off, with it still plugged in, and take it out of the water and give it a good whack, and it will fire up. Then I reattach it. Luckily it just slips on. I imagine having to connect back to the G-1 would be significantly more difficult. Sounds like time for a new pump....

I smacked mine too after i put it all back together and back in the sump, not to see if it would turn it on but just cause it was being a PITA.

yeah I sent them an email and hopefully will hear from them soon. I guess after 3 years I should expect some problems

Hey man,
Is this your pump? This is a sedra pump.
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-8530014..._2066_49604533
If the black bushing is not in properly then the shaft will be in a bind. Any odd pressure on it and the impeller will not be able to spin freely. If it works with out the bushing then when it is going back together it is getting bound up some where.
Does the intake screw on like the rios or is it a twist and lock style?
The bushing will seat into a recessed hole in the intake as it is put on.
Also, did you clean the impeller shaft and inside the impeller where it rides on the shaft?

YES! that is my pump, your the best

I finally looked today too and it said sedra powerhead on it lol..
its a twist and lock style. i took it to the owner of the fish store i go to and when he took it apart he told me that the impeller magnet and inside where you slip the impeller in is all scratched up, so he said that causes the magnet to jam itself since its not smooth... he is gonna try and find me a new one. %% is there any reliable places online that i can get that sedra pump for?
ALSO today, my bulbs decided to burn out so i had to go get some new ones. these tanks sure do keep us on our toes.
