sump

Not saved, but a 20gallon long tank works very well. Use some plexiglass for the top to allow you to install bulkhead fittings for your input and run a hose for your output. Very simple to do. You'll be glad you did it yourself instead of buying the expensive store bought ones.

i used a 31gl rubbermaid tub and 2 12qt trash cans. drilled holes in the top rims of the trashcans, filled 1 with bio-balls for the hose from overflow and placed the return pump in the other. this left room enough for a large skimmer but not sure how i can include a fuge, still thinking that 1 out.

OK - I'm interested too. what type of sump system and how do you get the water from the main tank without drilling it?
How do you get the water back to the main tank as well?

I am looking into this as well for a small sump. You can get hang on the tank overflows from CPR:

I use their hang on tank skimmer and it works nicely, but I took the back off my tank stand and realized I could easily fit a sump in there if I wanted to. Its only about 2'X 2', so im not sure how large my sump could be, but I might do it. Im not sure if its worth the work though.

i use a cpr overflow that drains into 1 trashcan via gravity up through bio-balls into the tub to be skimmed then through holes into the other trashcan and pumped back to the display with a mag 7 pump through 3/4" flex hose into a 1/2" cpvc spraybar.

If your tank is not drilled there alot of plans for a DIY overflow box on the web. Or let me know and I have picture/plans for an easy one made out of PVC.
