The Purple Queen Anthias, Pseudanthias tuka, features a muted pink/purple body, blue edging on its fins, and a multi-colored face with a yellow chin. It is also known as the Tuka Anthias, Purple Queenfish, Yellowstire Anthias, and Yellowstripe Fairy Basslet. The Purple Queen Anthias should be reserved for experienced aquarists as they can be difficult to feed in the home aquarium. They thrive in large, established marine systems with tons of live rock and a deep sandy substrate. They will scour the tank for small plankton but can eventually take prepared frozen foods.
Like other Anthias species, the Purple Queen is hermaphroditic meaning the dominant individual (if kept in mulitples) will be male with the others are female. Overall, the Purple Queen Anthias is a beautiful fish that requires some care to maintain. If done they are some of the more peaceful Anthias species and look great in those large established tanks.
