To much light? Is it possible?

Other than the obvious alge growth can to much light damage corlals? Live rock etc? I currently have a 100G set up with two 96W PC. Adding 2 400W MH's to it I am just worried about having a shrimp fry. Thanks in advance!

It is possiable to have too much light for a specific species of coral. Like putting a shroom under a 400W MH. However you can have all different possiable lighting situations by adjusting your rock work and using the shaded areas for the lower light species.
As long as the bulbs have a decent space between the water and a couple of fans temp should not be a problem unless you live in a hot area and don't have AC.

I'v got a custom built 100 gallon( 3ft by 3ft by 18in) with the overflow in the center. I'm running 6 3ft vho's and 2 175 watt mh. And have no problem.

Make sure your MH are at lease 12 inches off the top of the water. I use (2) 175watt 10k on a 75 gal, stack your rock work to allow shadow areas for mushrooms. The sudden change in light could shock low light corals because they have less zooxanthellae. Zooxanthellae use chlorophyll to absorb UV light. They same way you tan in the sun. Your mushrooms will adapt to more intense light source by getting brighter in color. Do this by moving them from a darker area to a brighter area over a period of time. Your corals will love the MH. You might need a chiller if you have a canopy top MH get very hot.

yes i think that there is a such thing but it is fairly difficult to achieve, for instance on my dads 30 gallon reef tank we have 1 400 watt metal halide and it has made the corals grow like crazy.

I don't really think many people have the budget to have TOO much light. Acclimation becomes important with high light. But it is less important than people think. I worked at a fish store where the corals came out of the shipping boxes and went straigth to 400w pendant MHs with 8" deep water!! There were no adverse affects.
