UV Sterilizer..YES or NO?

The guy who built my tank (225 gal with 50 gallon sump) installed an
Emperor Aquatics Smart UV Sterilizer Model 2025
I looked up the specs on this unit and I was alarmed at what this jerk gave me.
1 25 watt lamp rated for tank up to 150 gallons
Water Flow Rate for Algae & Bacteria 30,000 µWs/cm2
Suggested 472 GPH / Maximum 788 GPH
Water Flow Rate for Protozoa 90,000 µWs/cm2
Suggested 157 GPH / Maximum 262 GPH
They plumbed it as the first unit after the Little Giant 4 pump (approx 1200 gph) on the closed loop system! :scared:
I am guessing this unit is doing absolutly no good at those flow rates! Just chewing up electricity!
So here is the question - do I spend the time/money to get one that would be right for my tank size and flow rates or just forget the whole thing?
Any thoughts about using a UV sterilizer? Good/Bad? :help:
Thanks.

Some ppl. say good and others say bad. Best to have the slowest rate of flow that recomended for it. Get a seperste PH and take it off the CL. Even if your tank is larger than the UV is rated for IMO its beter than nothing. I run mine 24/7 on my reef.
